02 Sep Microdermabrasion, is it for you?
With all the hype around skin peels, laser treatments, and fillers, some people have forgotten about the fairly inexpensive yet effective treatment of microdermabrasion. Microderm treatments use a minimally invasive tool to gently sand skin removing the thicker, uneven outer layer.
It is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks. It reduces enlarged pores, exfoliates skin which results in a refreshed appearance. It also helps to thicken the collagen which results in a younger looking complexion. It can be done on the face as well as the nick, decollete, hands, and arms. The treatment can be done as a stand alone treatment or combined in a facial treatment.
Microdermabrasion treatments take about an hour. Generally, it is best to do 5 treatments, 1 week apart and then for a continued effect, 1 every 4-5 weeks. However, you do get some results from a single treatment. At Primp, a salon and spa in Winter Park, a series of 5 treatments are $275 or $65 individually.
After a summer of using sunscreen and sun exposure, microdermabrasion, can help get your skin back in shape for the holidays, so keep it in mind!
